Manchester Postcard Fundraiser at Chinese Art Centre 7.12.12
Come along to bid on my manchester inspired nearly postcard sized artwork this Friday at Chinese Art Centre, Manchester. All work is anonymous until purchased when you find out who the work has been created by! See more information below...
Manchester Postcard Fundraiser
Launch Night 7 December 2012 (6.00pm - 7.30pm)
Here at the centre we have developed an idea by recent ‘Breathe Residency’ artist Luke Ching. Upon discovering various bright and cheerful postcard images of Manchester’s fair city, Luke felt that they needed some adaptation to reflect the more regular rainy climate here in the North West of the UK! The postcards looked beautiful and reflected the city perfectly as you can see below.
Just in time for the Christmas season, a whole host of generous artists and even some Chinese Arts Centre staff will be adapting Manchester postcards for sale here in our shop and on-line. The postcards will be available to buy as of 7 December here in our shop, so do keep an eye out! Each postcard will be available to buy at £30 and all funds raised will be used to support Antonia Low’s residency (14th Jan – 20 Apr 2013). The postcards will also be available to buy via our on-line shop shortly!

Next month, I will be travelling to Manchester again to attend the 'Studio Chongqing' Symposium at the Chinese Arts Centre. The symposium, curated by Nina Chua and Jessica Longmore, will explore and evaluate work made by artists whilst upon the Chonqing residency programme. Some of my own questions about my upcoming residency will be posed to the previous artists in residence, Johannes Zits and Ed Pien.
Tickets for the symposium are free, but limited. To register, please go to http://chongqing-symposium-auto.eventbrite.com/.

Thursday 21st April, 1-4pm
Chinese Art Centre, Market Buildings, Thomas Street, Manchester M4 1EU
Free
Studio Chongqing aims to give a glimpse into the experience of a series of artists who have been resident at the 501 Contemporary Art Space, Chongqing.
In central China lies Chongqing City, virtually unknown to the world, but home to over 32 million people and rising. This restless megalopolis is in a continuous state of construction, demolition and reconstruction to accommodate its burgeoning population.
Within the technicolour district of Huang Jue Ping sits the 501 Contemporary Artspace. Over the last 2 years, the Chinese Art Centre has introduced many artists from Manchester and beyond to the residency programme at the 501. For Studio Chongqing we have brought together, both physically and virtually artists from Manchester and all over the world to present to you an aspect of their experience in Chongqing.
Please join us for this afternoon of performance, presentation and discussion and catch a glimpse through the window of Studio Chongqing.

Chongqing Residency 2011, 501 Artspace and Chinese Arts Centre
I was delighted to be notified last week that I am one of the selected artists for the programme of artists for a month long residency at 501 Artspace in Chongqing, China, co-ordinated by Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester. Over the month long residency, I intend to develop my series of 'Fenestration' Drawings in response to local inhabitants use of digital space as well as a three dimensional installation work. I also hope to be able to explore relief wood printing at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Thanks so much to the selection panel for accepting my proposal!
