I am very pleased to be showing a newly commissioned work 'Arm (C)hair' as part of 'Finding Treblinka', opening on the 2nd August 2015, and running until October 2015 at the Museum of Martyrdom and Struggle in Treblinka, Poland.

The work was commissioned alongside works by artists Hilary Jack, Dave Griffiths, Janine Goldsworthy and Michael Branthwaite to respond to the research of the Forensic Archaaeologist Caroline Sturdy Colls, who is also Professor in Forensic Archaeology and Genocide Investigation at Staffordshire University.  The project and exhibition is supported by Staffordshire University and The Rothschild Foundation.

Arm (C)hair refers to the barbaric process of hair removal of all entrants to extermination camps, and how the hair was then used as a commodity for stuffing furniture and mattresses and making textiles. The hand drawn pattern printed onto the fabric depicts drawings of the hair combs found through archaeological research at Treblinka, which were owned by people who lost their lives in the camp. The fabric has been reupholstered onto an original 1940's European Armchair.

The Largest Artists Studio Outside London Opens its Doors to the Public for their Annual Open Weekend. 

Rogue Open Studios is a vibrant and exciting annual event taking place at Crusader Mill in Manchester which draws thousands of visitors from far afield. The Rogue Open Studios offers fellow artists, curators, gallerists, collectors and the general public an opportunity to meet the artists and to access all areas of the studios while affording studio members an opportunity to exhibit and offer work for sale.

Over the course of the weekend more than 90 artists working in a range of disciplines will open their studios which occupy 30,000 square feet spread over three floors of Crusader Mill making this the largest group studio space and event, outside London.

Rogue Studios is also home to The Project Space curated by Ahmed and Carpenter and Malgras|Naudet an artist led space curated by Magnus Quaife. For the Open Studios this year The Project Space at Rogue will host ‘Fayre’, a Rogue members group show on the theme of the ‘market’ while guest curator Simon Morrissey of WORKS/PROJECTS in Bristol has been invited to present a group show of gallery artists in Malgras|Naudet.

Artists at Rogue range from recent graduates to established practitioners. Many artists based at Rogue work closely with public, independent and commercial galleries and have exhibited widely across the UK and Internationally. Studio members have been proactive in establishing the cultural landscape in Manchester while others work in educational institutions and creative professions across the region and further afield. 

Established in 1995 Rogue is an independent non-profit making organisation administrated by David Gledhill and Martin Nash and a committee of volunteers.
